Yeah, it looked good this arvo didn't it? I stopped what I was doing outside at about 5pm and just took in the view of the belt for a while, then did some daylight astronomy and found Jupiter about 3 degrees below and slightly north of the moon.
The belt of venus is the shadow of the earth rising at sunset.
In particular the pink belt above the distinct shadow of the earth being cast on the atmosphere. Mike's photos shows it beautifully for sunset. It is also seen in the morning before sunrise.
