EQ-6 with SkyScan

Matt from Telescopes & Astronomy in SA has just released his December newsletter (look out for a news item about IceInSpace in it, too! ).

Following on from Mark's discussion about the EQ6 with SkyScan, it looks like you can get it a bit cheaper than some places are quoting..

Quote:
SKYWATCHER'S SKYSCAN GOTO FOR EQ6 MOUNT
The EQ6 Mount complete with SkyScan and SkyScan upgrade kit will be available mid December The Upgrade includes all that is necessary to bring an EQ6 up to the Skyscan-EQ6 spec. Stepper motors, hand control, control board, cables etc.

Skyscan is compatible with most astronomy programs and autoguiders from the outset. The appropriate pinouts are given in the instructions.

EQ6 Mount with SkyScan $2730
SkyScan upgrade $1145

The upgrade installation is quite simple and well within the scope of "handy" people. The autoguide function, is compatible with most commercially available autoguiders. Here's some information by SkyWatcher:

I kept telling my wife it'd be $2k to get a good mount.. looks like I need to adjust my figures

Maybe by the time I can afford one, it'll have come down in price to $2k
