More Cloud

I was just looking at the weather chart for Australia and I see there is cloud banked up almost all the way to West Oz

Looks like there will be nothing happening for me tonight.

I suppose that in years to come we will look upon this and remember it as the "Great cloud cover of 2007"

Wonder what's on telly tonight.

Cheers all.

this has got to be the worst summer in recent times. Not only cloudy 24/7, but extremely cold aswell

Hi All,

Yep agree it is the worst for some time. The summer of 2000-01 was pretty rainy though.

I can remember a couple of others like this back in the 90s where it seemed we had cloud for months and months on end. Not sure, but I think either 1994 or 1995, I had a run of 8 months without visitng my regular dark-site due to cloud/rain. Unfortunately all you can do is sit it out. If it is like the other LaNina summers, we won't see much of a shift in cloud-free nights until mid-autumn -- sorry to be so negative!

Best,

Les D

Yeh well I have had my car stuck down a drive which has been too slippery to get up and my truck stuck elsewhere, the lawn is growing faster than I can cut it, fleas and mossies are having a population explosion, I was supposed to be in Sydney all last week and stuff is starting to get mold.. on the mountain it does not stop raining or at least a fine mist.. enough stop rain. It is making life real tuff at the moment.... and no stars to clear the head...woe is me.

It's the teasing that gets to me, beautiful clear days until around 3pm then it all starts to go murky and the blue sky disapears.

Hi Alex, have you grown webbed feet yet? it's the first sign of too much rain.

Cheers

It has to do with the theory of relativity..as it is the biggest hill around the place I call it a mountain... in truth is is only a bit about sea level... 550 mtres maybe... but the locals point in my direction and call where I am as ..those mountains in the distance.....

Mate the rain gets to me... once I just needed to be out of town for peace but for a long time now I have to see the rest of the galaxy or I feel closed in... I get a comforting sence of meaningless to my existence when I can see the center of the galaxy over me.. it does something to me when I see it pretty well above... and like you I have "personal" issues that make you realise being under the stars alone it pretty neat....... I am managing mate but only just... hope you are better..beware of Christmas statistics tell us it is not a good time stay cool.......

Got the truck out and am being Santa Clause tonight at Tabby... cant wait to see if my beard is longer than the fake beard they give me...I have been down but this gig is the high point of my life strangly... I never thought anything could be so important to me... particulary because its a fake thing... but to think I can make some of those poor little kids have a moment of happiness does it for me.

So tyou can see I have been very alone for a long time now.

Yeah, I've had enough of this crappy weather for the last couple of months. When can we expect a run of clear skies?????????????????
I'm expecting a new scope to arrive soon and it looks like I won't get to use it for a while.

You're never alone, as long as you can log on and join in here, Alex.

Chin up. Clear skies can't be too far away, mate.
