Storms last night

I Heard on the radio news this morning that NSW (Newcastle Sydney Wollongong) got a flogging from storms last night...

I hope you're all OK, and managed to get through unscathed!

Al.

yeh was quite an afternoon.. a series of storms rolled in for about 2 hours. We got some grape sized hail, lots of rain and wind.

Luckily we didn't lose power, cause it was between 4pm-6pm, happy hour for kids dinner etc.

Yep it was a doozie, at one stage the rain looked like it was traveling horizontally......

yup...that was a storm alright...

My wife had a friend over and casually asked me if we were about to get some rain - BOM website showed a very small concentrated dump on the loop heading straight for us(heaviest I've seen) (stupidly I just thought it was rain and didn't look at the warnings page). Within 5 minutes we had some strong wind...then some rain...then small bits of hail (where you go "is that hail ?..might just be heavy rain drops") then we got bigger hail and to round it off we got a 2 minute spell of hail up to and including the size of mandarins (the oranges, not the chinese chappies)...

We had a tree come down in our street and take down a powerline - we got power at 4am this morning. I've been on the phone to the insurer already today about getting my car fixed (windows intact but bonnet and roof a bit dinged)...

Within 15 minutes we had calm weather and sunshine...what is WITH this weather !!!???

...and worst of all....we still have clouds

PS - we were in Castle Hill, NSW

I missed it all in the shopping centre. Got home to Cherrybrook and was advised that we got hale stones. Driveway and roads were covered with leaves. I am glad i was in undercover parking, and not at home in the driveway.

From the weather maps looks like Northern NSW coast got there taste today.

Fahim

Several people at my office live out your way and were telling very scary tales today at work about the storm...lots of damage!

Glad you made it through okay!
