Dec motor drive value?

Dear all,

If I had an SV-1 mount with a RA drive only (it has no fitting for a dec drive) - would I miss the dec drive (which might be found on an EQ-3-2 with dual axis drives)? How much would I miss it? What does it do?

cheers
WOl

Basically it would make it easier to track while observing, but you would still have to do your slews manually. This could be acceptable for visible use on a budget.

Ta for that. I was really wondering about the dual axis drive versus single axis and whether they ahd PEC.

Hmmm I'm beginning to wonder if no one out there has ever owned an SV-1 or EQ-3 mount...or are too embarrassed to admit it
