Menacing Clouds over Sydney

Hi,

Well any Sydney siders who happened to be looking out the window this evening may have noticed the following very menacing looking clouds. Only a little rain/lighting came with it though.

Nice! It sure was a wooly night.. we had about 4 or 5 storms in succession on the central coast, from about 3pm through to 9pm.

It's all right for you lot to look in from the outside!

It wasn't much fun being under it. I'd swear that the damn storms took turns in hovering over Maison Dujon and laughing as they threw down bolt after bolt. Hour upon hour of it. Eventually the local electricity supply gave up the ghost, though it was restored in about three hours. One of my cats (the scardey cat) disappeared to the darkest depths of 'under the bed' and stayed there for long after the noise finally receded. At one stage I was seriously considering joining her.

We had a couple of sessions of small hail - about marble size - but not a lot of rain (17.9mm) most of which landed in one short burst.

Oh, yes - nice piccies folks.

Pretty awesome sight over Winmalee as well. These pics were taken from my front verandah which has a good view over Blaxland, Penrith and Richmond. Thankfully we only got a few spits of rain but down lower it looked pretty bad.

don't know whether it reached your local news stations
but here at terrigal yesterday afternoon we had an almighty CLOSE strike that both the wife and i commented on
turns out a women was killed by that lightning strike on terrigal beach - not 300 yds from our house
she was apparently walking on the beach (with someone else) and carrying two fishing rods at the time

why would it be attracted to two fishing rods you might say ?

well not many, other that an old local like myself, would know that right in that vicinity at the entrance to the lake is a large (hidden) ironstone rock formation

poor bugger
