Here's a shot I did recently of the galaxy NGC 55. The image shows a lot of detail in the galaxy which was a pleasure to see. Also there are quite a number of tiny galaxies in the image.
This image is a 75-minute exposure (made up of 25 x 3-min. subs) with my modified 300D @ ISO200 autoguided on my G-11 mounted GSO 12" f/5 'scope.
thats a very nice detailed galaxy image paul , never heard of this one before , did you autoguide for the subs?
forget that just rememebered that you did

Reason: missed the autoguide bit
Excellent image Paul
The "grittyness" is actually bright individual blue stars starting to be resolved. NGC55 seems to show this more so than other galaxies, and only deep hi res images show it, such as this one

Hi Paul
It looks a little “gritty” on my LCD display and perhaps slightly too blue, although these are minor considerations.
Cheers
Dennis

Whoops! Thanks for the explanation Scott - it no longer looks gritty and those imaginary minor considerations have just evaporated.
