if you had to do a newsletter for a Astro Club, what features would you like in it?

Now this one is entirely open ended, except for a limit of say 4-6 pages per month. What would you look at for including in a regular club newsletter????????

A list of objects and where to find them for the less experienced and of course next weeks Lotto numbers... and web based so as not to waste paper and mailing costs.

Suggested 'targets' for perhaps 2 or 3 classes of scope/user. (Basic, intermediate, advanced ?)

A run-down on the different types of scopes,(reflectors, refractors etc) their uses and what different focal lengths mean so beginners and even some oldies can understand the uses of different types of scopes. Also helps newbies decide what to buy.

sounds like a sensible idea Louie. Don't know how you thought about it but it is a sensible idea!! maybe after Sky and Telescope and (maybe Sky and Space) pick up on the fact that this is a informed and responsible site Mike may get favourable mention and many clubs join in on the site.

Astronomy Newsletter

Thanks David for starting the thread and the suggestions forwarded by a number of interested people. They are interesting and varied.
To incorporate the suggested ideas, the most important requirement is the input by the society's members, without which all the good intentions comes to nothing!
Since the inception of current NAS newsletter, it has been mainly left to the our web meister to provide the content. With not much input from the members, quality of the newsletter has suffered.
The input by NAS members towards the newsletter will be put to the next meeting for discussion.
Thanks again to everyone for their suggestions.

What a brilliant idea!!!

If we could get all the OZ & NZ Astro societies and Clubs to place their monthly newletters in here it would be like a giant Monthly National Newsletter.

Glad I thought of it!!

Oh well you said it I didn't

It is good to see your input Ghul and your right the members should contribute to the newsletter. I will certainly have something to contribute month by month if I get started building the clubs telescope. When the committee agrees on a size.
