I tell you - the secret to breaking the country's drought is some well placed purchases - John Howard should give every amateur astronomer $5000 to go to town on gear - no need for new dams or desalination plants after that I'd think!

I agree with that, my purchase of a DSI gave us 9 1/2 inches of water in the tank. Seems the amount of rain you get is proportional to the cost of the item

my purchase of a 10" dob 17 days ago has bought a total of 5 hours of clear sky spread over 3 *evenings* (not nights). Forecasts get downgraded with every update, even today's supposed sunny 26慢 is overcast and has been downgraded to 24慢. The next week looks equally bad. I hate spring as much as I hate winter. Both incredibly pathetic seasons.

Wow! that is expensive water, I can get my whole 20,000 lt tank filled for
$140 and still 8 inches of rain straight after. Even if it hasn't rained in months

Mother Nature it seems is not without a sense of irony. For the first time since May the jetstream has all but dropped off up here.

On the upside, the clouds have brought the temp down 4 or 5 degrees to a pleasent 26.
