My Chev story finally gets told
For a long time I wanted people to know the truth about the condition of my old car that was chopped up in Mad Max. It was NOT a heap!!!
Now my story has been placed in the '59 Chev website so everyone will know that they destroyed a good car!
The owner of the site, Kurt, saw fit to post the truth about it's history.

its a shame it was destroyed, but that is possibly the best way it could have been destroyed!
there's a chance it may have ended up at the MAD MAX museum in Silverton, near Broken Hill, SA. there is a guy who has collected a lot of the cars used (and destroyed) in the films.
jarrod.

Wow!! So how about that eh Ken. they ruined your perfectly good car!
It was good that you were allowed to tell the truth about it. Must have broken your heart when you found out what they had done.

It sure did, Daniel. It hurts to watch it get wrecked in the Movie, even though I enjoy the Movie.
What a waste!!!
A funny story from the time I owned it: I was backing into a parking spot at KFC in Melbourne and the car was so long that I couldn't correctly judge the length. I backed into thier building
I got out to inspect the damage to my car but could only find a tiny tiny scratch on the chrome trim on the fin. But I completely cracked the whole wall of thier building!!!!
It was Besser Brick
Those Chevs were tough

Do you know how much the production paid for it?

Nope, I never bothered to ask. It wouldn't have been much. Probably about $200 I guess. Dunno, maybe more, depends on how greedy the car salesman was.

Just as a side note my Best Man was the builder of the interceptor (Murray Smith).
He doesn't live all that far from you, Ken! (Casterton)

Ahhhh, yep John, I got to play with the Interceptor (well, we wheeled it into the Studio ) when I worked on the Don Lane Show. They brought it in to start it up on the show.
Man it was loud

Neat story!
I have a special place in my heart for Chevy Impalas...my first car was a 1972 Chevy Impala...and much like Ken's KFC story it came out the better in every bump/scrape that I had with it...
