having just salivated over Ezy's M42, it got me thinking of all the great images that jump to mind from IISer's.
-One of Birds jupiters seemed to have a 3d great red spot
-Mike's Jupiter moon animation
-Ken's work with the long exposure toucam
-Paul H's joop on his laptop screen during the planetary camp
If I were to think about the best of best for whatever reason, then my top 5 might go something like (in order of my brain remembering, not necessarily in top 5 order)
1. denis's moon orbiter image
2. xreckor's hand of god lightning
3. birds 3d GRS (like looking down the eye of a hurricane)
4. i think it was tornado (scott), but he imaged a couple of little known clusters and they were sooooo delicate........a stand out for mine
5. mike sid's eye of god was also great
Anyone else find an image from this year or last year that took your breath away???
I am very biased of course! But Mike Sedonios Helix was fantastic. The planetary images absolutely sublime. I don't comment as I am not that au fait with all the complexities.
Some of scotts unknown PN's. Kens TouCam images.
But you are correct it is people pushing whatever they have to the limit.
I cant pick a winner but it does not matter, as they were all very good!

true, no winners, all good for different reasons.
I know we tease Mike about his pelicans, bu i have enjoyed the landscape stuff he does.........which gets me thinking, there were some awesome sydney harbour bridges at night earlier this year.
Many of the images here constantly blow me away and the standard seems to be rapidly improving, but i must say lately that Jase has been pulling out some rippers!! A couple that has stayed in my mind is his Helix neb and his M33 which were on the front forum shot of the week a few weeks back.
