A photo of crux and surrounding stars.

This is a basic image of the area of crux.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5, no zoom in, 60 second exposure, cant remember the tripod offhand but it was only basic, and the only post processing was to add the image to iteself in photostudio 2000. this was also facing a big source of light polution and is pretty much my first picture of the night sky.

HI there, to IceInSpace!

Do you remember any other settings on the camera? Can you adjust ISO as well?

For a 60-second exposure, with a higher ISO you'd be able to record many more stars.

Keep trying! nice start!

i think it was on 400, but i am not sure. I also am not sure if i can adust the ISO in starlight mode anyway. but the full sized image, if added to itself again, reveals a whole lot more stars.
