PEC training on a Synscan

Dear All
My EQ6 has a PEC function that I had not bothered to use before last night.
As there had been some discussions about the pros and cons I thought I would try it. I am guiding with a QHY guider directly into the guide port on the mount. When you go into the PEC function on the hand controller it tells you to start it and use the L & R buttons to perform the guiding. I have no desire to manually guide the mount.
Will the guide impulses to the mount be recognized by the controller?
If not do you have to use ASCOM into the hand controller instead of the direct guide inputs?

Hi Terry,
I can recall a post on the EQ6 group a few months back about it.
They said it will learn from the ST4 port, not Ascom.
I have not tried it as yet, as my setup is tripod mounted, and have to balance before alignment. I believe this would disrupt the stored park position.
Also, if the mount loses power before parking, the Pec is lost.
I also guide with a Qhy5, and have very good results without Pec.
1 of the things on the "to do" list...
