Does 'Autostar Suite Software' work with EQ6

Because I have a DSI arriving hopefully tomorrow, I was wondering if anyone knows if the included 'Autostar Suite Software' works with The Skywatcher EQ6 mount?
Or has anyone got it to work with their EQ6?

The 'Autostar Suite Software' is the GoTo program included with the DSI. See here: http://www.meade.com/autostar/as_suite.html

I would probably say no, as the command set seems to be different to the meade command set. Also I havent come across aany news to the contrary on the EQ6 yahoo forum. Maybe no one has tried?

You may be able to do something with a LX200 compatibility mode. I was able to run a Celestron CG5 in this mode from Autostar via a LX200 emulator and a virtual serial port. Its on Wiki how to do it.

Hi Ken & All,
Think g__day is correct with the Ascom & Lx200 setting.
Bear in mind that serial ports can only accept 1 connection until the "hub" in Ascom loads.
Windows device manager can sometimes change port assignments. Pay to check.
Also, increase the default port speed to 57600. This allows the buffers to clear at a faster rate.
It can also send delayed adjustments if the "pc" is busy, this can be frustrating.
Praying for clear skies...

Ken the short answer is yes you probably can, the long answer is you and I had better stick to PhD Guiding and save ourselves the headaches. So the best answer is no

Oh and btw if you want a good no nonsense easy to understand and apply and one you are familiar with, stick to CDC.

Yep Paul, I just mentioned that in another thread
CDC and my mount won't talk to each other yet, but I'll nut it out somehow

What do you mean by the "hub" in ASCOM. Does that mean that I can have more than 1 program accessing ASCOM at the same time?

Hi Terry, Yes.
Prior to getting the Q-Guider, I used a webcam and quided thru Ascom.
I could also connect Starry Night to the same comm port, & they seemed quite happy.
