Question Feature RequestL Forum Jump at Top

Hey guys

I find when reviewing the forums I repeat a pattern over and over:

Open forum, scan threads, read ones that are interesting (all of them of course!), return to forum and mark remaining as read (using menu option at top of page), then jump to next forum (by scrolling right to the bottom of page).

It would be easier if the forum jump (or a copy) were at the top of the web page.

Hi Dave, have you tried using the "New Posts" button at the top navigation bar?

It displays all new (un-read) posts in every forum, and once you've read the ones you're interested in, you can use "Mark Forums Read" to mark them as read.

Just tried that Mike. Okay, but could get very busy, and as I don't watch all the forums, having them mixed in like that is a bit off putting. If I only have a few minutes, I'll just pop into the 2-3 forums of particular interest rather than read the lot.

Another idea then..
After you've done your "forum jumping" from the bottom menu, rather than marking them read individually, why not use the "Mark all forums read" afterwards?

A-ha, but you still have to scroll to the bottom of the page, which in the case of some of the forums can be quite a length.

Use the "quick links" menu at the top, "mark forums read".

That request comes up often.

I'll have something for you tomorrow, David. Just because you're the lucky 100th person to mention it... and it's our birthday soon. Balloons, prizes and a forum jump menu.
