Conditions varied during the evening but it was
generally clear. With the odd patch of cloud
interupting sessions. So it was a diffifcult task
to focus and this was about as good as I could
get it. Ganymede is out to the right, Io is next
and the last image you can make out Europa
intching in from the left.
8" f/6 Newt on an EQ5, LPI
There was some touch up's in PS mainly Levels & Curves
and a lil sharpening.

Setting were pretty much the same for all images there might
of been the odd adjustment.
Gain: 98%
Offset: 41%
30-103 Exp's @ .177 sec with x3 barlow & .250 sec with x2 barlow added

Great shots Rob! The last few are nice and crisp, I can see how the conditions changed during the whole event.
I can never capture the moons when they're off the planet - i have to raise the gain too high and it washes out the planet. Maybe when I get tracking I can play with the settings more.. i'll have more time to try different things
Surface detail would/could be better for two reasons A) conditions will always determine how much you or your imager sees. Some of us get lucky and be out at the right time. B) I didn't get the chance to stack nearly enough images. My PC must of cashed during most of those captures the longest was 103.
I use the Moons as a focus add, I would imagine it would be rather difficult with a Dob. Man I find hard trying to manual focus my sucker and it's on a EQ mount with drives... I would love an electronic focuser.... one day...

Ving, you'll be pleased to know I got a little moonage in one of my avi's of Jupiter tonight, seeing was very good. But most of my images don't have moon unless they're close to the planet, otherwise they spend half the capture time outside of the FOV.
Won't get a chance to post them until Monday morning. I *think* they're worth the wait
Rob, Nice pics.Great detail. FWIW,What kind of focuser do you have? Would it be suitable for being 'BELT' driven? If so, I can make an electric focuser for you if you want. Check with Mike & Ving for details, as I have just supplied them with one each. L.

does it have the ability to fine focus, or is it one speed suits all?
