Astro Movie/DVD recommendations for Xmas

I was asked what I wanted for Xmas the other day, and immediately struggled to think of anything inside the appropriate budget.

So yesterday I came up with a DVD. I have a couple of suggestions for protential presents:

"Seeing in the Dark" by Timothy Ferris
"Cosmos" 7 DVD set by Carl Sagan

I'm sure there was a recently released movie/DVD about the apollo programme but I can't remember what it was called, and I haven't been able to turn it up in searches. Can anyone help with the name?

Does anyone have any other astro movie/DVD recommendations?

BTW I already have:
"Space Race"
"The Right Stuff"
"Space" (with Sam Neill)
"The Elegant Universe"
"Extreme Machines: Rockets"
"Apollo 13"

Al.

Hi Al.

I think you might be refering to "From the Earth to the Moon'.

It was produced by Tom Hanks.

Cheers.

Hi Al

It may be a bit dated now, but have a look at “The Planets” from the BBC (UK) available from ABC bookshops.

Cheers

Dennis

PS - I have a couple of those titles on your list and really enjoyed them.

Yep - definitely would put both "The Planets" and "From the Earth to the Moon" on my list if I didn't already have them!

Haven't seen this yet, but I should have it this week (a friend ordered 2 copies). It's just called "The Universe"

I think he found them on eBay (not this site, as it was cheaper elsewhere)
