Tonights eclipse from QLD

wow, awesome site tonight..I live on the sunshine coast QLD..and I was all set for tonight .. I stepped outside my front door to find the brightest white moon Ive ever seen..Then cloud came over..oh no I was going to miss it all but then it went as quick as it came and for the last 2 hours Ive been gobsmacked..The moon went from bright white to red to dark red and now its just starting to get white again..Ive watched the whole change.

What a great site .It was so close it was like I could just grab it..Ive taken some pics and will upload asap..I only have a canon s3is but Im happy with what Ive got..

all I can say if ya missed it you missed a great few hours.

It was pretty special up at the Mapleton Observatory Jonsgirll. A bit iffy for the first hour and then just before totality. Wham! Clear as a bell for the whole thing. Fantastic!

The detail you achieved in some of the pictures is really good.

And yeah, I still find it hard to believe that the moon can actually turn red. Figure that one, eh!

I must admit that you achieved better focus with the image. I found that the image only started to show discernible features in the last third of the ingoing shadow in my photos. I didn't get the outgoing shadow because it rains a lot these days in Tasmania.

However, I did get a rainbow an hour or so before the eclipse commenced. And yes, the rainbow commenced in the same spot that moon rise took place.

Jonsgirll,
I've got the same camera that you have. You can really get some pretty good pictures out of it hey.
Glad you had a great time.

Camera

Its a great camera..Ive only had mine since May so Im still not sure about it..I started taking pics last night on auto but they were fuzzy..Then I was told to try the sports setting and that made the pics clear..but cant do justice to what I saw with the naked eye..beautiful..

Thanks for the comments and replies everyone..
