Rising Creek

Our little creek is up and running again.
Just think, it was a string of billabongs the other day.
All the pics are taken of the same area where the kids like to fish off a fallen log.
The creek flows into the Stanley River which then ends up in Somerset Dam.

Local woman Julie Johnson says you could go white water rafting this morning, but last week the river was just stagnant puddles.
"The river is still rising, we had good rain again overnight, the springs have opened up and all the unnamed tributaries have started to flow in and it's fantastic," she said."

Fantastic JJJ, now all you need is some followup rains in a weeks time - then clear skies for two weeks then another weeks worth of rain (allowed for viewing time LOL) Lets hope your dams get full

glad to hear the old country side is getting some much needed rain, i grew up out in gatton (enough of the laughter!)

The boys caught the bus to school this morning, but the teachers put them right back on it again and sent them home. There were a lot of causeways under water and they didn't know how much deeper it would be this arvo.
They got out the boogie board and played in the calmer waters where the creek broke the banks.
LOLOL They were complaining how cold it was. duh. It is still winter.

We've been watching the coverage about the rain fall on the Sunshine
Coast on the TV down here in Sydney.

Lucky all this wasn't happening during Astrofest otherwise the
beautiful one day perfect the next reputation would be in tatters.

Can Duckadang ever get cut-off by the river that runs there which I have
in my head as being the upper reaches of the Brisbane River?

From the BOM site here is the level of Stanley River at Woodford last couple of days.

So there is fair bit of water on the way down! Somerset Dam level has already risen 2meters

There was a lot of Rain up at the headwaters of the Stanley, Peachester had 300mm last week and there was even more up the top of the range. Maleny nearby had 550mm.

You bet Gary. After the rain clears though it would be hard to think of a nicer place to be marooned until the river went down

This is the Brisbane River in January (it's stayed much the same since then) and after the rain, photo taken today Saturday.
The people who were fishing off the bridge said that it had risen in the time that they had been there.

That's a heck of a lot of water Jeanette. I remember you posting those pics of the boy's fishing spot. Boy what a difference
