What a cool prize

Hi All

At the BSG I was lucky enough to win a prize, and it consisted of a one year, unlimited telescope time with SLOOH-COM telescopes, in Chile and The Canary Islands.
Had a go last night and it is awsume, to be able to use one of their scopes on the other side of the world, and see it all happening on your personal computer.

Just thought i would mention it.

Leon

Nice one, Leon. How about some screen captures?

Or can we log on a site and see what you are looking at??

Yep, it is really cool, only tried it a couple of times so far, so still working my way through it.
Erick, the site is at (www.slooh.com) i think you can get a free 7 day trial.

Ken, no mate i cant connect the 5D, now wouldn't that be good.

But i did reserve a 5 minute block to view some nebula, once you have booked it it is your spot, until you have used the time, and you can reserve time many days in advance and look at anything from the Planets to Globular Clusters and so on.

Leon.

Here is an experiment. Pick a bright asteroid - one that's moving quite fast. Slew the telescope to those co-ordinates and take an image. Do you see an asteroid trail in the final image? Anything brighter than magnitude 17 should suit a 15" scope.

Looking at the interface and the price and the 'unlimited time' option I'd be interested in just how live these images actually are!

Cheers

David ,I can understand what you are saying, but i really don't know the answer, i am told, and i presume the info is correct, and they tell me it is live, maybe with further learning i might be able to get into the finer details.

Hi Leon

I have been a member of SLOOH since 2004, I can confirm that the images are in fact live!

Cheers Petra

How faint and over what integration time can they go? Do you have a choice of colour/mono? Are they FITs images? For the price one might be able to do a lot of science on the cheap!
