Nebulosity - Widefield 24mm!

I took this tonight. Pretty chilly out here. Maybe only 14C. Those annoying trees like...sway into the FOV everytime I'm taking pictures. I could be back to the trees and taking a picture of the ground, and the trees will still manage to somehow get in the picture. UGH!

I see a little bit up in the left hand corner

I can see a little bit well done. Have you tried levels and curves in photoshop to try and bring more detail out. Be carefull not to clip the data when you do the levels and curves.

Hi Ingo,

The website is very quiet at the moment because there are a couple of major star parties on this weekend and everybody seems to have gone away.

That's a great shot and I would say yes there is definitely Milky Way in the upper left, and 'wow' that's quite a sky gradient you have there!!

I love widefield Milky Way shots. That is how I started out.

Hi Ingo, yep that is the milky way in the upper left. Your image is well resolved but that skyglow must be annoying to you, is it from the city of New York itself.

Thanks for the replies everybody. I get a little frustrated seeing all the other pictures on here getting replies and mine just falling to the bottom of the page. I go out just about every clear night and try to get stuff here. It's very hard to get ANYTHING in such a light polluted area. Being 17 I can only drive till 9PM. It doesn't give me time to go into the boonies and image. I know others may be a lot better and have color and detail...but everybody has to start somewhere.

You could consider a camping trip to a good location. Then you can image all night and not have to worry about driving home until the next day when your back in the legal zone again.

Ah, good idea! My grandparents have a camper up somewhere not entirely in the boonies, but pretty far away from any major light sources. Definitely nothing like here. Maybe in a light green light pollution area, minimal, but some.

Looking good Ingo. For a 4 minute shot you've done very well to track as well as you have. Nice and sharp.

Don't get discouraged about people's response times as there were two very large star parties on this weekend that took up most of the east coast IIS'ers.

It's actually just...still 13 second images. I love Deep Sky Stacker though
