Or as you have a webcam maybe a tracking platform for planetary imaging.
Failing that an Argo navis and encoders. with enought left over for a nice 32-35mm eyepiece

Don't listen to them Shaun!
Here is what you really need:
- Rigel quickfinder. (yes, telrad is better but just little too big for an 8" IMO) - nice pair up with your RA finder.
- and eyepieces:
24mm Panoptic
13mm T6 Nagler OR 12 and 8.5mm Pentax XF.
Orion Deluxe 2x 1.25" barlow
Also get a planisphere if you haven't got one yet.

I would like to get an Argo Navis but would also like some sort of tracking i see the ServoCat works well but the price of those together might stretch the budget.
Maybe just the Argo on an Eq platform, i might have to make it myself to keep the price down.

Hi Shaun,
Whatever you do decide, we certainly appreciated that an Argo Navis was
on your wish list!

Garry, you need to start selling eq platforms would make a nice combo with the Argo Navis.
While i have you here i have checked out your site and am a bit of a newbie at this stuff, could you give me a quote on the equipment i would need for an 8" Sky-Watcher Dob and your setup.
Regards Shaun

H Shaun,
Thanks for the post. Will P.M you with the details on recommended
components.
Though we don't manufacture or sell equatorial platforms ourselves,
Argo Navis fully supports them.

IMO tracking is very overrated. Spend $50 on some ebony star and get the movements nice and put the rest toward an argonavis

Lot to be said for buying a second hand SCT or even Ritchey Cretien and selling off the dob.Argo navis and servo cat combo, though nice, will use next years tax refund as well. Funny how in these days of "equality", the women seem to get the better deal. Time to book that sex change!
