Just testing the waters as I don't know if I want to part with my beat up C6 Celestron/Vixen newtonian just yet. Looking at getting about $450 (does not come with eyepieces). The OTA has several holes drilled into it, but is covered up. Comes with a chinese EQ3 mount, sliding focuser and 6x30 finder. Pick up only.
Taking another $50 off so now down to $350. Just got the income tax bill and I got a negative tax return Willing to let the OTA alone go for $300. As stated by Geoff a brand new Vixen 6" f/5 would go for well over 1k.
hey mate, i might be interested, but i'd like to come round and have a look-see and a play around with the equipment. not to mention some instructions. lol
oh, and how would this go for terrestrial day time viewing or astrophotography?
You want a refractor for terrestrial day time viewing. Newtonian's give upside down views so they are no good for terrestrial views. Also the EQ mount is not steady or precise enough for photography. For that you need a really beefy precise mount. But if you are still interested let me know and we can arrange something.
