A strange week ahead

Only a week to go now before the big move north to Brisbane.

My partner left earlier today to have a week up there to search for a new home for us and to begin her new job at the Queensland Performing Art Centre.

So, am home alone for the whole week with a house full of packed boxes and very little to do except go to work for the last time at ACT Cricket.

I do have the laptop and a TV, which provides some entertainment.

But it's a fairly spartan existence. Feels weird, actually.

All my astro stuff has been packed away for a while now. No imaging for me for a while

Reckon the next week is gonna drag.

The good news is I've already been offered some casual work at a Gold Coast radio station which will begin early August.

So, things are already falling into place.

matt I'd like to wish you all the best with the move. I've been in your situation twice, it can be quite unsettling at times. Anyways all the best!

I hope everything goes smoothly for you.
Moving house can be one of the most traumatic times of your life.

Nah mate, move is good, in fact if you do it every couple of years, it is amazing how little rubbish you "collect". I don't move enough, far too much "stored".
Good luck.

Might still be on the cards, Mike. It's only Day 1. This could all go off the rails very quickly!

Yep. Move is good, Gary.

Strangely enough, I have moved about every three years for the last 12 years. Still managed to accumulate a lot of crap. Had a massive garage sale a week ago and offloaded a load of it. We've also put aside a lot of fairly good stuff for the Salvos and other charities.

So, we used this move as an opportunity to unburden ourselves of 'rubbish'. I plan to keep a close eye on the gathering of more.

Cheers

Treat it as a new adventure Matt, soon enough you will be settled in and all the excitement and expectation will be a distant memory, savour every minute of this transition which ultimately will be a marker on the timeline of your life. All the best

Certainly am, Ron. Well, I have no choice, really. Coz it is.

Really looking forward to getting there and getting on with it.
