ahh, swapped HD's to the one loaded with OS 10.4.10 with safari 2.0.4, not the old OS 10.3.9 I was using, an low and behold works fine - srry false alarm

damn i am slack, I am still having trouble moving HD's, it's like moving home, cant seem to leave the old one behind - does anyone else hate movings HD's, puters, even if it means much better and bigger - i have improvement fatigue after nealry 10 years

easy way to solve the problem, buy a new system

we haven't got to that stage yet of moving HD's. We recently went the whole hog for a G5 which we figure will keep us going for the next 10 years! especially with the extra bays. I still use the G4 powerbook for work though.

Yes, I remember saying something like that 10 years ago. That's about five computers ago, now...

I'm not totally impressed with the latest OS - I'm certainly not impressed with all the anti piracy BS (much like vista?) that i cant play ripped to HD dvd's (that I PAID for) with the OS supplied 'dvd player' in video_TS files anymore coz applle are playing footsies with the major movie companies, and capitulated so as to have their content available on itunes/iphones ggrrrr sell out swine!
and i dont think the VLC player and other alternatives are in the same quality as 'DVD player' I like to have concerts and instructional geetar dvd's and loop and incrementally replay a very short phrase ect. VLC doesnt do as good a job with that sort of use IMO
