Jupiter 9 July

Well finally got to test the new Skynyx lastnight. The first thing that springs to mind is that the image scale is greatly reduced. I would have to use an extension with the 3x barlow and filter wheel to get a larger image or try to resample.

The other thing that is immediately noticable is that this camera has a significant reduction in grain. Even imaging in 8 bit produces significant gains in image quality. Very impressed in the camera. Software is fantastic with total automation of the each run. Very similar to what Anthony has produced in Linux.

Now to try it in better seeing and under much better jet stream conditions.

Taken with the C9.25

Would have been good seeing this on the screen prior to capture, was it moving around much?

Nice image Paul. A great first light.

Can you post a raw frame from the Skynyx? Would be good to see a comparison of raw frames between the DMK and skynyx.

Yes Mike. Would be very interesting to see a comparo of raw frames.

I have been looking at the SkyNyx for many months as a possible purchase, but simply haven't had the $$$$ to take the plunge.

I too have been inspired by the work Damian Peach has done with this cam and am likely to follow him down this path when I can afford it - not that my results will be the same or as good as Damian's. It's all good fun, though.

Best single frame of very bad seeing, not much grain though.
