Snake Valley - Friday 13th

Friday the 13th, out in the dark!

Sorry everyone, I cannot come. I have to spend the weekend in Sydney. I've packed my 12x60s, my Planisphere and a red light torch in case I get some time late Fri or Sat nights.

Have fun. I'll miss being there. I'll watch out for the reports and photos!

Eric

Eric,

Going by the weather report, you won't be missing much. Cloudy with Showers is forecast.

If it is lousy, we will be having Club night on the following Friday night (if it is clear).

Enjoy Sydney.

Well, I went up to the Clubhouse planning to stay for about 1 hour just to let anyone turning up know that there is no observing coz of cloud (obviously ).

Well 2.5 hours later I got out of there! Yep it was cloudy but the few that still arrived sat around and we talked EP's and stuff.

One lady who has been at our monthly nights regularly as a visitor turned up excited as she has bought herself an 8" Dob! We helped her decide which EP's to replace the bad ones she got with it.

So the night wasn't a total waste at all.

Let's hope the weather plays fair next friday night.

Spent 11:30pm to about 1am out last night. Up in northern suburbs of Sydney. 12x60s only. Can just make out Milky Way dustlanes by eye. Omega Centauri just visible. Picking out the favourites with hand held 12x60s - was nice. Picked out some globulars I'll need to locate again with my scope.

I can get an early night so will set the alarm for early morning. I've found a clear view of northern horizon, so I'll go M31 hunting, then first look at M42 since it swung past the sun.
