A.S.I.G.N. Movie on U-Tube

I thought I would give it a go. It took some time, but it was a good experiment. What do you think?

Baz.

Baz,

That's a wonderful chronicle of the construction. I enjoyed watching it - and dreaming of what I might have one day. Thanks for sharing that. Well done on the construction too. It looks like a great observatory.

Cheers,
Greg

Yes Ric, it's in the front yard....

Well!.....I must say the response from the dozen astronomy forums or so that I post on, have been absolutely overwhelming! I am a little abashed and don't really know what to say..

Thanks everyone for so much support and encouragement on this stuff. Thanks for putting up with my constant, almost spamming of ASIGN.

I feel I must express this reply of thanks across the board and all the forums. We all hail from different countries and have our preferred forums, but we all share the same love of the stars.....

I had no idea this project was going to go so far and take me places it has when I started out.

Lump in the throat touched....

Thank you and God bless ya ALL!!

Baz

Hi Baz

Awesome video and observatory, but................ that pier is mighty thin (well, a part of the video shows large square section, but in the begining it looks like a bean stalk!), are you going to image with that ?. sorry, dont mean to be discouraging, but if you are imaging, you will probably need to beef it up a bit?. See how it goes.

Hi Fred, good spot mate. Thats exactly what I did. You have noticed the first pier, it was heavy steel pipe, but yes, it was too wobbly at that height. The pier in the end is 7 feet tall, 1 foot square and solid reinforced concrete!

It doesn't budge!

Baz.

Hi Baz, a lot of hard work with an inspiring result! I see the main floor is above the ground and wondered what the reason is for this. I assume you use the space underneath for storage?

I do have room for storage under there and access to the mains. However the main reason was to get me up higher above the ground to clear the tree views a bit.

Baz.
