I don't have room for a normal dedicated electronics project bench and got tired of having to unpack and repack the stuff between sessions so I went looking for a 'fix'.
I sourced (secondhand) the 2 draw office cabinet seen below. It has drop down front panels and large roll out draws. I removed the lower one (simply a matter of flicking a tab and rolling it out) and put it on top for extra storage. The area left was perfect for stuffing all my gear and the drop down is a good size for working on small projects. The best part is I can shove the half finished jobs inside and close it up between sessions. There is even a hole in the bottom rear to accept a lead for my solder station and power supply. It had to be raised to an acceptable height but that was simply a matter of stacking it on top on an existing 2-draw filing cabnet.
All too easy
Frank.
