New Image: Two New Southern Stars!

Astrometry solved images taken on 3rd July of both recently detected novae -V462 Lup & the even more recent V572 Vel- showing both the catalogued stars and the 'new' star at the centre.

I measured the magnitude of V462 as 5.9 on 3rd July down slightly from 5.78 on 19 June (peak was given as 5.5). V572 was detected a week later and has already dimmed more quickly down to 6.3 (peak around 4.8).

Images are approx. 15 min of 30 s subs taken at 710 mm FL.

It is nice seeing these two images side by side, Gary.

Two novae shining in a similar part of the sky - the wonder of it all...
