When looking for info, for buying my first telescope back in 2018, this forum, and all the online reviews I could find for what I was considering, were invaluable. But I still had to go to a telescope shop to actually look at the telescopes, before buying.

It's nice to have people to talk to about all of this stuff considering the expenditure and complicated processes involved with imaging and just viewing.
I remember when I had to travel into Sydney (I lived near there then) and try to get as much out of a salesperson as possible between other paying customers. Here you do it all from the comfort of your home without having to buy anything.
