LMC @ 70mm

Hi all,
LMC using my Canon f4L IS 70-200mm lens @ FL=70mm and new AM5N mount.



I've been o/s for 43 days so I couldn't wait to try the new mount - unfortunately under heavily moonlit skies.


Image is a blend (used PI ImageBlend script) of HOO and RGB images.


3nm Ha 40x600s
3nm Oiii 40x600s
RGB 30x120s each filter.


Chroma Filters
ASI 2600MM

Wow mate that’s superb! I love seeing the lmc in its full glory showing its epic structure and individual active regions. Wonderful!

Thanks for the tip about the imageblend script- I have been meaning to try this with a couple of my own projects but haven’t yet. Was it pretty easy to get the e HOO and RGB to play nicely together or did you need to play with masking etc?

Hi David,
Just dipping my toe into the ImageBlend script myself.
I processed the RGB and HOO images to a point I was happy with both Histogram, GHS etc (didn’t go crazy) - then used RGB as the first image in the script with HOO as second and pulled the opacity slider way down to taste.

Would love to try capturing the LMC under dark skies - Jarrod Koh did an amazing 50mm version which showed the remnants of the galaxy’s spiral arms - quite spectacular…one day🙏🏼

Very nice Doug. You can see the bared spiral galaxy remnants in it's structure.
