Vintage slide projector identification

Can anyone help me with any information about a vintage slide projector I recently acquired?
It's a very small unit, all bakelite construction and sadly minus it's front focusing lens but the gentleman who gave me the old thing may still have that I'm hoping.
The only markings are an emblem stamped into the front and Google search with the image has so far turned up nothing.

It didn't look like this when I was given the thing, all metal surfaces had significant surface rust which I hit with brass wool, fine wet and dry, coated with Penetrol and spray painted silver with a spray can. I am awaiting a response from a company in NSW as to getting the few metal parts nickel plated or, will eventually get sick of getting no response, pull my nickel welding rods out and do it myself (I have the necessary chemicals bought to nickel plate copper contacts on a circuit board my son was making) . The wiring, I hadn't touched that (and am betting it was all illegal and know it was very dangerous).
I did however remove the wires attached and fitted (plugged) an old 2 pin jug cord onto it, it's not right but it's a good fit on the 2 pins and it will do for now, it's a lot safer. I haven't however plugged it in, I have no need for it other than display purposes.

Hi Leo, what you have there is a ''Belirix''35mm strip film projector. Your missing lens is a''Beliskop'' . Ebay is your friend here if you want one.

Frank.

Thank you Frank!
My son and I searched high and low and had no luck at all finding anything.
I'll go see the gentleman who gave me the unit, the lens may still be laying in a box with some old Polaroid Land cameras (he gave me a big box of old camera gear including the projector) but failing that I'll also be doing an eBay search.
I did fit a rubber pipe adaptor (slid into place) with the lens off my old Elmo 8mm movie projector but doubt it will work well.

One thing to check is that projectors and enlargers - even really old antiques - have an IR blocking filter somewhere between the bulb and the film - usually one side or other of the condenser lens. Otherwise you risk the heat from the lamp melting the film. This usually looks like a rectangular or square piece of clear flat glass 3…5mm thick. You can tell if it’s working using your fingers to sense whether the heat is blocked or not.

What works really well are camera lenses from old SLR cameras circa 1979-1985, around 135…150mm. Even a typical f/4 zoom from that era will do nicely.

To make a lens mount cannibalise a rear lens cap, or perhaps a ring from a set of extension tubes for the same lens mount.

NB if you project through the same lens that took the image, geometric distortion is cancelled - even for a fisheye. It’s an interesting thing to try.

I’d be very very wary of old paper-insulated wiring and Bakelite electrical fittings..

All of the old wiring and crap has been removed and discarded. An old 2 prong jug plug (lead) which belongs to another old slide projector I have fitted straight on the rear pins.
Originally it had a 2 pin British round plug. They are still widely used around the world but since this unit is only for display I may not bother chasing one up.

Though I'm intrigued about projecting through the lens the image was captured through and must try that.

Thank you for the information!

To find objects that match your photos...
1) images.google.com

3) Upload your photo

It'll give you a lot of results based on your image.

Example using your image.
