DMK Jupiter - Canberra - June 4

Yes. I know. Long overdue

So I put the ToUcam away for the night to spend a little time with my almost untouched little firewire mono buddy.

The seeing wasn't really too good, which makes the detail in this all the more intriguing.

I'm going to force myself to spend time with this cam before I attach the wheel and filters.

This one's for Mike, who never gave up on believing in me and the DMK

haha nice one Matt, an excellent image of the SEB outbreak!

If you're quick enough (under 5 minutes, say), you can stick the ToUcam back in and capture the colour data and make an LRGB image.

It's what I did when I first got my DMK and didn't have colour filters.

Try some moonage too, it's perfect! You don't need filters!

The other advantage of starting to use the DMK, is that when you get the filterwheel, it's effectively an extension on top of your barlow. So you will see your image scale increase!

All good things!

Great work Matt, loads of details there! The DMK is a sweet camera indeed. Like you, I haven't yet got round to using the CFW with it, although the weather hasn't been too cooperative up here in Qld.

I particularly like the DMK for the Sun and Moon, where mono is okay and the image quality and frame rate of the DMK exceeds that of my ToUcam 840 II.

By the way, ignore Mike – he must have a Type A personality and is too goal orientated.....

Cheers

Dennis

I'm guessing that's a PS thing? Layers, right?

I have no idea how to do that

I guess I'm gonna have to learn.

More learning curve!!!!!!!

I'm assuming you save them all as TIFFs to retain the highest amount of data?

Hi Matt

I save all my images as TIFF, always (registax, astraimage), except for the last step when I do a "save for web" from photoshop for web presentation.

Well, the only exception is while working in photoshop, I save the image as the PSD photoshop format (layers and all).

Man, I wish you'd visit Canberra and I could pay you for some tutoring

Ah well. I'll just jump in with the filters and wheel and post my efforts and get the usual terrific feedback/advice through the forum.

If I get jack of it (the demands of RGB imaging that is) I can always go back to the trusty ol' ToUcam
