200x800 on a sv2 mount.

Hi grant,
I am not aware of anyone here havig one of these. the sv2 mount looks about the same size as a eq4 or 5.
should be ok with the f4 scope, but I know little about these mounts
Why not get the dob??? It is cheaper ($299 vs. $499) and you could use that extra money to get more eyepieces, filters, observing guidebooks, etc. I have a 6"f/5 (old Celestron/Vixen C6 OTA I got off Astromart) on an eq mount. Started life as an e Bay catadioptric newt. The OTA is superb but if I had to do it all again, I would have gone with a 6"f/8 dob. It will be more portable (and probably lighter too), probably a lot more stable and you get much better high powered views as collimation is less critical in an f/8 as opposed to an f/5, plus the secondary is smaller in the f/8 too giving a smaller central obstruction, plus you won't need the Nagler's and Pentax's to get sharp views to the edge of the field of view. ordinary wide field and super wide field eyepieces will work well as well. Unless you are pressed for space, go with the dob!

p/s; if you were thinking of getting the EQ mount due to wanting to try astrophotography, the mount that comes with this scope is probably inadequate.
