Solar Images 3

Three frames taken today with one hour spacing between images. The sunspot activity has come clearer into view and with the extended time lapse can be seen rotating clockwise. Whether this is due to the Sun's rotation or our relative position I'm not sure.
I have now managed to fit the whole disk in frame with my Meade DSX90-AT by removing part of the T64 adapter thereby moving camera position closer to scope by around 50mm giving better image scale.

details : Meade DSX90-AT Maksutov Cassegrain, Canon 350D with Meade T64 adapter, Baader Solar film - home made filter, all images 1/200th sec @ iso 100.

Nice shots Steve, clear and well framed. I took some images on Saturday with the 350d and ED80 and they were horrible. I just couldn't get it right, I suppose we all have days like that.

Yes we all have bad days and nights Steve !

My latest nightmare is neighbours who have started lighting their bloody wood heaters every night so if I want to do some observing/imaging I have to breathe acrid smoke and end up smelling like same not to mention the effect on my viewing conditions........

I reckon wood heaters should be banned. Of course I am not a bit biased by my astronomical interests ......

Wow - those are really good full disc photos - well done. When I tried the same, mirror slap in the Pentax DSLR simply ruins the captures. Must make sure my next DSLR has a mirror lock up.

Thanks Dennis. Mirror lock up is an essential feature even with short exposures. Had quite a strong breeze which didn't help things and it looks even stronger outside today. Maybe just observing today, will see how things pan out.

As regards neighbours, it would be easier if I moved I think, I would opt for a darker sky location rather than where I am currently living ( 3kms from city centre ). Who knows what the future holds.

and how am I supposed to keep my house warm??? We don't have the luxury of Gas in the country (except bottled gas which is extremely expensive).

It wouldn't be so bad in the country, it's when you have a city of close to 2 million pairs of cold feet that things get a bit over the top
