Antares/M4

A quick shot of Antares/M4 before the moon rose directly underneath.
hand guided through LX200 @ f/10
imaged with ED100 @ f/9
1 x 8min Canon 350D @ iso 800

Nice shot, Mick.

I like M4. A great cluster. Those stars that form the straight line in the cat's eye look great through a scope.

MIck wouldnt there be heaps more in the image - I mean iso 800 and and 8 minute exposure, you should be seeing sky fog at that stage?

my mistake, never occured to me M4 is on the wrong side of the star to be Antares, it is actually Al Niyat Mag 2.92 variable.

thats fair enough, but its an 8 minute shot Mick, where is the rest of the details, there should be heaps in that image . can you try to reprecess the original again to bring out the details. on the copy posted I stretched the hell out of it and noticed a lot of dust and some other marks in the centre of the image? NOw this could be severe Jpeg compression?

Nice shot, however I think there is some more detail in there ready to come out with some processing.
