My trip to The Rocks was very interesting the other night.
The area has an amazing atmosphere and is full of history and fascinating landmarks.
I thought I'd try getting a wide cross section of photos thoughout the night.
These were all taken with the 20D and 24-105mm f/4.0 at high ISO, hand held using no flash.
1. The Argyle Street Arch, which supports the Harbour Bridge Roadway.
Some historical links, link 1, link 2, link 3.
And these next four were my reject "Transport" monthly challenge entries.
1. Ambulance Emergency.
2. Truck on the Expressway, Harbour Bridge, hope he slows down at the toll gates !
3. BMW outside a Sydney Hotel.
4. Crash on the way home, what happens when you don't stop in time. Driver was ok thankfully (no I didn't cause it ) .
5. And the last one was just a tennis game below the Harbour Bridge walkway looking down over the tennis court.
Have you thought of selecting your best "Tourist" shots then getting them printed as Post Cards Andrew?
They are very good.
My cousin had some of his done and he made a nice little profit. He placed them in every artsy crafty shop and coffee shop that would let him.
The same goes to everyone else here who has taken beautiful scenic photo's.
Let your hobby start paying for itself.

Thanks jjj, I've dreamed about selling images but have always thought they might not be good enough, thanks for the encouragement.

We need to setup another night of shooting in the city.
Mike I'm really looking forward to it, I really want us to try some nice HDR's on some of the beautiful landmarks down there.

Thank you Matt, I'm glad you like them, the observatory is a beautiful place to visit especially at night.
I'd really love to come down to Canberra, my favourite city, and visit all the sites, last time I was down there I wasn't into photography in any big way.

Thanks Phil, I really like it too, I almost entered this one in this month's competition but decided to go with the other shot.
It's surprisingly difficult to do a panning shot like this and I wanted to do a better job on it.
I spent ages trying to get the right shot but this ended up my best effort.
Still need more practice though.

Cheers Phil, yes it's the IS version, this allowed me to walk around without a tripod but I was on the very limit of the handheld threshold.

Leon
Thanks Leon, I was shooting from across the road and kept competing with passing traffic and pedestrians.

I was surprised how many thought I was paparazzi, especially standing outside one high profile hotel to get the BMW shot.
