Ngc 300

Hi Everyone,
This is NGC 300. I used ASI 193 MC for the RGB and ASI 183 MM for Ha and OIII to pick up the emissions.

90x 300 Seconds RGB, Ha and OIII.

Software: DSS, RC Astro Star Ext, RC Astro Noise Ext. Astrosharp, Affinity.

Comments welcome.

Chris.

Hi Chris,
quite good but something has gone wrong with the processing.
The background is completely black -
it is reading 0 out of 255.
It would normally read 20 to 30 out of 255 bits.

cheers
Allan

Thanks Allan
That’s very helpful. I’ll have a look at that and see where that happened.

Hi Chris,
it can be avoided using the free program that I use:
NASA FITS Liberator.
https://esahubble.org/projects/fits_.../download_v30/

Take the stacked FITS file in and use the stretch function x^(1/5).
Move the sliders full left and right -

that will give you maximum compression so that all levels
are spread out evenly over the 255 possible bits when you finally
convert from Tiff to jpeg.

cheers
Allan

Good suggestions made re the background, but otherwise I quite like this- in particular the detail in those Ha regions. Really nice!

Hi Allan
I loaded Fits Liberator 4 and will give that a go. Where do you get the background bit values from?

Chris

That is on the final .jpg when you use the eyedropper in Photoshop
to sample any areas.
