Here comes the cold!

Well, according to the forecast, Sunday night will bring our first flurry Snow to Ballarat & District!!!

I knew it had to come eventually, but I didn't think it would come this early.

Guess I won't be imaging or observing Sunday night.

What height above sea level is it gonna snow down to??

If it gets to 800m then Walcha (1060m) should get some too if it is pushed high enough northward.....normally Canberra and Oberon and Katoomba get it before we do!

Except for last November!

Cheers!

Matt,

the site is Accuweather. It is a fanastic weather site, and covers ANYWHERE in the world. And will give up to 15 day forecast.

Outback, I dunno how low down but we are at 500 metres.

No problems.

You will also notice down the bottom of the page is a clear sky calendar

There is an Astronomy section for each location too.

I see yours refers to 'Astronomy Centre'.

Is that an option? I can't find it by scrolling over the various menu options.

How was it last night, Ken?

Ruddy crisp here and I'm in the lower part of the Blue Mountains about 250m asl . . . 2.8ºC minimum at around 0730. Brrr! That's winter temperature for us.

According to the local council weather web site at Katoomba (which I never believe and thus should not post such lies) it dropped to 2.5ºC at midnight. If the graph shown is to be treated as true then it dropped slightly below that at about 2230. The council Springwood site is closer - giving 3.3ºC as the minimum at just after 0700 - but it's now telling me it is 15ºC while my own weather station (www.blaxlandweather.com) reports 12.6ºC.

Not that it matters, I guess, as anything under 10ºC is cold to me.

If I go to one of the future days, not today, I get an option down the bottom "More Astronomy Information" - clicking that gives the display Ken showed. I cannot work out how to make that the default display?

It had me stumped too Eric but I did a search on their website for Astronomy and Sydney and found the URL. I've spoofed my URL for Melbourne and it seems to work. Give this a try:

http://wwwa.accuweather.com/world-astronomy.asp?partner=accuweather&t raveler=0&locCode=OCN|AU|VIC|MELBOU RNE&metric=1

Thanks for the tip Ken. Great site.

Cheers,
Greg

Thanks Greg, I should have said that my normal use of the site is as an add-on to Firefox - doesn't seem to be many options that can be set there - so I just have to click a couple of times.

As an add-on, it slides in a small window every 5 or 10 min giving me the current conditions in Melbourne. So here I am, sitting at my computer at night with work that has to be done, and it keeps sliding in an image showing gloriously clear sky conditions - Grrrr!

I agree!

In winter, water should be a "solid" at least part of the time...

On the plus side, at least I can still wear shorts all year long here!

Not an option Matt. Standard.
In the 'Days 1-5' page there are 2 links on every day and night. One says the day and the other says 'More details'. A box opens, and at the bottom of the box is 'More Astronomy Information'. Click!

As you can also see, our weather forecast has gotten worse!!!!

Cheers, Ken.

We're already getting into the minus range overnight here in Canberra.

We had a -3 Tuesday morning (I think it was Tuesday morning. Was definitely in the last few days).

This'll be the norm for the next few months now.

We'll have to get a 'Winter Wonderland' thread going with pics of everyone's OTAs covered in frost/ice

I know you've already taken a few 'classics' in past seasons.

Yep. Definitely sounds like you're in for a frosty start, unless that breeze keeps up.

7 degrees here atm
