M83 Southern Pinwheel

Hi everyone,

another stable night 11.06.23.

M81 Southern Pinwheel Galaxy.

Zwo 533MC Pro.

35 x 300 seconds.

200mm f/4 GSO Newtonian.

A very pleasing result.

Thanks for looking.

Paul.

Paul, nice image mate. The galaxies always look so interesting, I should get my SCT out and catch some data.

Good one Paul. I don't want to be picky but your spikes suggest you need more attention to collmination ( opinion only)...it shows in the spikes but probably causes small issues across your images...I guess I notice because I am chasing similar issues ( backfocus and tilt ) which come down to attention needed in the optical path with three scopes...

Things are just not working for me at the moment.. 300 images of Dragons with 80mm which resulted in a terrible image so bad I scraped it and they have to be real crook for me to throw them out.

Re Stack

Thanks John, much appreciated.

Alex,

thank you for your comments, it made me look at my data again.

I was lazy, or perhaps greedy ? And stacked 100 percent of my 35 subs.

After looking at them, I found 15 that I could actually use.

I did check my collimination before the imaging session, so I
was confident that all was good there....well...as good as I could get it !

A bit of fine tuning for back spacing with the Coma Corrector might help tidy things up.

So, not to be the guy that continues to reprocess......but...

Stack of 15 x 300 seconds.

Image resized for posting.

Thanks again.

I am finding galaxies to be quite a challenge....and that is a good thing.

Oh, and yep....I am still happy !!

Hi Paul,

I think the second image is a lot better than the first one - looks like being brutal with your sorting of the data has paid off.

Cheers,
V
