Saharan Sunrise and Moonrise

I just got back from 2 weeks holidaying in Libya and Egypt. The tour wasn't astronomy based, but did get a couple of shots.

The dust (or pollution) in the atmosphere did get some nice effects on the sun and the moon.

Sunrise1 shows the sun rising over the Mediterranean from Marsa Mathru.

The remaing shots where taken in the Libyan Sahara. About 900kms south of Tripoli. No quite in the middle of nowhere, but you can see it.

Bigsky was taken under a full moon, note the man standing on the sand dune.

Amazing images Brendan, the first one is awesome.

What software are you using to resize/reduce quality?

I absolutely enjoyed both trips.

It is hard to compare the two trips as they covered two completely different areas of interest for me as well as being very culturally different. Both trips gave me what I was looking for.

The Hawaii trip was always planned to be done at sometime to see the observatories. I remember thinking about doing it back in 1997.

Libya / Egypt was never thought about until very recently when I developed a interest in Military History. Libya / Egypt also included a large general history content, lots of ruined cities and mummies, which I enjoyed, though not of a primary interest.

Must start planning for the Siberian eclipse next year.

Stop it, you're making me jealous.
I'm hoping to make it to Cairns in 2012. You'll be there I suppose?

I went to Parramatta once.

Great images Brendan.
(I won't tell anyone that you actually took the pics down the beach, here in Oz)
