M83 Wide quickie

Just a quick 46 x 30 sec shot of M83 with my Tamron 500mm f8 mirror lens before the moon rose last night. I'm so used to GOTO now that I forgot how difficult it was to find small targets in the night sky without it. Took me a while to locate it and put it on the sensor of the DSLR. The Ballhead on the iOptron Sky Tracker is a bit sticky, so it was hard to adjust it smoothly in small increments without throwing the galaxy out of the frame.

Nice effort mate! Come up good for a quickie!! It’s hard to go back once you’ve been using GOTO for a while… I pity the folk who hand-guid deep Astro images!

Like how they did in the olden days? Amazing. I've never even looked down a polar scope, but I've pointed at it a couple of times and grunted respectfully.
And 12 yr old me is having a hard time leaving all those sticky sitters.

Nice one
