Power Supply For Celestron CGX

Hi astro peeps.

Just wondering if anyone has had issue's with the Powertech Power Supply 12DC 7.5A Adapter with female cigarette adapter?

Bintel sell them for the Celestron Mounts. I bought mine (exactly same brand and all) from Jaycar about 2 weeks ago.

Had it plugged in and turned on, fan was running. Mount was not turned on yet and it made a crack and a pop and burnt out. So wasn't even under load.

Anyway just seeing if other people have had this happen?

Thanks
Peter

I have one of these for a different purpose, they are an okay brand but some things it worked on and others it would not. Example camping fridge worked fine, mattress inflator no go. Could be you just had a faulty unit, take it back under warranty. Just a couple of points to note.

1. The mount only required 4.0 amps so the supply should be adequate.
2. What happened to you last powers supply? Why and how did it fail.

Asking number 2 because have you considered you have a mount issue?

Jaycar replaced it no issues, so hopefully it was just a one off.

This is my first power supply as I'm still getting it all together and still have to get first light. More parts arriving next week.

The mount was plugged in but not turned on when it blew, so hopefully not mount issues.

I'm totally new to astrophotograph and this is my very first rig. Big learning curve and can't wait to get it up and running.
