Which are the brightest galaxy's in Sydney skies at the moment?

Hi Guys.

I've had my telescope for about 6 months and I'm yet to spy a galaxy through my scope. Where I live the skies are heavily light polluted. I have a meade ETX 125 PE with 2x/3x barlows and 26/15/12mm EP's. Am I doing something wrong or are they just that small and faint that I dont see it even when I'm looking?

Thanks

Sombrero is easy to see even in Full Moon. Worth a try

White R - go for Centaurus A (NGC 5128). I like this one because it is very easy to find.

(We'll take the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds as given?)

White Rabbit,
I myself have recently just started veiwing galaxies, the previous comments all are worthy easy targests M104 is great even when the moon is bright but have found that Centaurus A a little harder to find with the moon but still visible.
Another Galaxy that I located last night was NGC4945 a large edge on spiral galaxy not far from Omega Centaurus worth hinting for IMHO.

Just have fun, when you see your first oh what a buzz.

PS I hope you are using your lowest power eyepiece to look for galaxies...save your Barlow for the moon and planets
