Still only Ha...

Still only doing Ha imaging right now - hoping to start getting some colour next month once I purchase a decent set of narrowband filters to replace my lonely 7nm Ha filter. But of course the weather hasn't been assisting much for months & not really getting too excited that may change during the coming winter.

Actually managed 3 nights over the last week, unexpected & surprising as none were supposed to be much good for imaging, though the time was limited with clouds returning quickly on Tuesday & Friday.

Tuesday night it was the Whirling Dervish Nebula (NGC 3247) & the Banana Nebula (NGC 3199). Managed 33 x 600s for a total of 5.5 hours.

Friday it was the Statue of Liberty Nebula (NGC 3576). This was the short night with clouds rolling in early so only 17 x 300s for 85 minutes in total.

Saturday night was the best with the clouds actually out over the ocean and circling around my location, coming off the coast to the south and swinging back to the north. Was able to image up to around 4am before they started moving in.

Looking at the satellite images I decided I had plenty of time so put together a 2 panel mosaic of the Running Chicken Nebula (IC 2944). Panel 1 was 3 hours total & panel 2 was 2.75 hours after getting cut short. Again used 300s exposures but guiding was so good I could easily have used 600s or longer.

Cheers,
Mark
