Purchasing a telescope from overseas

I'm currently thinking about purchasing a telescope from an overseas vendor. I've bought my share of astro gear on line from overseas without any problems, but nothing as large as a telescope. Before I bite the bullet I was wondering if anyone has any experiences in this area that they would like to share. I should also add that Australian vendors have done extremely well from me in the past.

I purchased an 102mm ED, F11 scope from Germany three years ago.

It arrived in good order in only 8 days.

Good luck with your purchase.

Shipping worked

I had a new Questar shipped from Company 7 in Maryland via FedEx and it arrived in perfect condition. It took Questar a while to make it but shipping was rapid.

A great little telescope too.

I purchased a refractor from the UK a couple of years ago. Took a little over two weeks to get here, but the optics all came through well and there was no damage to the packaging. My only advice would be to make sure you get tracking on it, even if it does cost you a couple of extra dollars.
