Another NINA question.

After taking a sequence of lights I saved the sequence parameters in an xml file..
Sure enough thede parameters are loaded at the start ofnext invocation of the simolre processor. I now need to take a series of darks. How do I stop the light parameters being loaded or how do I override them?
MOre climbing of the learning curve required.

You can set the image type from LIGHT to DARK (or FLAT etc) in the sequencer, is that what you're looking for?

not quite

Thanks John, no that is not quite what I meant. The simple sequencer comes up with all the previouse light parameters entered, I changed LIGHT to DARK and asked it to take the sequence, even though the target was still saying NGC1566
When I click to start the dark sequence the sequence does not start and the image screen shows the camera cooling but that is as far as it goes.
I guess I need to set the sequence parameters into a new sequence, so how do I stop it loading the NGC1566 xml and setting the sequence parameters?

Chris can you please provide a little more detail the sequence (no pun intended) on your process?

i.e.
1) you use basic sequencer to capture your lights for one night
2) does the sequencer finish all the light subs you capture or do you terminate prematurely due to dawn?
3) when you finish do you shutdown everything?
4) next day when you restart up NINA, do you load the XML file?

A) Why don't you set up a new sequence altogether for the darks?
B) If you don't want to set up a new sequence, and you change your LIGHT to DARK what does the :-
i) Enable flag say?
ii) Progress values say?
If the enable flag is enabled, I think your Progress has reached the subs you've put in (e.g. 180/180). So that task is done. You'll need to either :-
1) Disable that row and add a new row for darks
or
2) Reset that row back to 0/<whatever> progress, change it to Dark, and press play.

BTW all the LIGHT/DARK/etc just modifies the tags so that if you use those tags in your file name you know what it is.

.Sean, thank you for replying
This evening I proceeded as follows
1) a new light sequence was captured,

cool camera, capture, warm the camera, a one second light frame then warm the camera, the active circle vanishes so the sequence is complete
2)bring up the simple sequencer, load the saved xml for NGC1566, ie 20 frames of 300 second duration and of type light
3) change the Light to DARK
4) start the sequence from the sequence panel of the image screen, this shows a frame time of 300 seconds of type darkt
5) the camera panel of the image screen panel shows the camera cooling
6) now the thing iI do not understand
One frame of one second is captured and the camera warms

So how does this happen, what have I missed?

Sean touched on it above. I suspect you need to reset your item ie progress says 20/20? Select it and hit reset at the bottom.

I do what Adam and Sean do, have a Darks.xml and tweak it to suit

Thank you gentlemen for your patience in trying to help me. But no matter what I did I could not crate the sequence I wanted. So I took a computational sledgehammer to the problem, I deleted the xml files from the NINA directory. .Hurray! I could set the sequence parameters for my 300 second darks. They are being captured as I write this.
So I obviously mi-construed the steps that Sean so obligingly provided.
I don't feel very bright
