Thanks for the trip down memory lane. One of my fondest memories during my Air Cadet days, before I joined the RAAF, was flying around the Chittering Valley (near RAAF Base Pearce) in a SAR UH-1B Iroquois... Doors Open

That F-111 cockpit image is just pornography to an Ex-Instrument Fitter

You know you would be welcomed with a beard in the RAAF today, as of November 2022.

I did also ( around 1974 )....4hr ride on a Huey , from the old Airport at Rockhampton, back to 9 Squadron Heli Pad at Amberley Air Base.
Flew a low height and followed the coast line and a bit of IFR ( I follow Railway Lines )...I was glad to get out of it after 4 hrs....thud...thud....thud...thud for 4 hrs was enough for me.....

What ... didn't have Ride of the Valkyries blaring out?

Not sure if 4 hours in an Iroquois is as bad as 8 hours in a Caribou.

F111 Cockpit

As you know far better than I ever would. The entire control pod was the ejection mechanism. I can’t understand why all fighters are equipped with ejection pods. My understanding is that there’s no such thing as a safe ejection seat the person sitting in the chair will always sustain injuries, frequently serious injury’s
