Enn Gee Cee - Two Five Three (repro added)

Hi all,

My first ever image of NGC 253 the Sculptor/Silver Coin Galaxy. I've always liked how its NGC number appears to rhyme!

It was great to get out to dark(ish) skies for the first time in over a year and amazingly, the weather even held. Conditions were a bit blustery (and the seeing was rubbish for most of the time) but hey you can't have everything!

Exposure: 3 hours 20 mins
Telescope: Skywatcher MN190
Camera: ZWO ASI2600mc

Higher resolution image available here: astrobin NGC 253

*note - repro added - second image*

Comments & critiques welcome.
Pete.

This is looking very nice. I am busy with the same target - but from a bortle 7/8 zone. I have 9 hours of RGM mono data @1000mm but will probably end up with less detail than you.

Thanks Ecki!

I had two hours of data from last year taken under Bortle 7 skies but DSS complained about the size/format when I tried to combine it all. Not sure it would make much difference anyway so I ended up just leaving it out.

I've done a slight repro and reduced the brightness of the core. Not sure if this is truly "respecting the light" but it does seem to match the rest of the image better.
